M.Arch Thesis

The workshop proposal is a superimposed axial intersection on the Somerset Bayswater site situated
within the Hintonburg neighborhood.

This urban axial approach creates new “streets” lined with workshops and art studios. Through the workshop’s axial organization, the project aimsto create a new artisanal district in the hopes of housing theup and coming craftsman within it’s innovative “streets”.

The building also adapts to the seasons. In the summer large doors on the east-west axial path may be opened to let in fresh air and to encourage outdoor-indoor engagement. The  building’s façade primarily uses a multi-story hybrid Extract Air Mod system of double glazing to minimize heat loss and to increase the amount of natural light.

The workshops streets use a system of
downlights embedded into the ceilings of the first and second floor corridors.
